WHAT TO EXPECT

Our initial meeting will be online or by phone, free of charge and 30 minutes.

This session will be different from a usual therapy session, as it’s an information gathering and sharing exchange.

This first session allows me to find out more about you and what brings you to therapy at this time in your life. It provides you with the opportunity to meet me and decide whether you think I might be the right person for you. It’s also an opportunity for you to find out more about me, the way I work and the counselling process. You can also ask me any questions that you may have.

After the initial meeting there is no obligation to continue. It might be helpful to take a moment to think about it, or you might want to book another session straight away.

The choice is yours. If you do choose to work with me, we will meet weekly as I offer both short- and long-term therapy, giving you thecontrol over how long you’d like to be in therapy for. It can be helpful to review our work after six weeks; it’s a good time to see if you are noticing the benefits of the sessions, and we can discuss the direction to go forward.

APPROACH/ HOW I WORK

I understand that reaching out for help is difficult. I will provide that warm welcoming confidential space where you express what ever emotions you are feeling in the session without judgement.

Person-Centred counselling is a collaborative process which is led by you and supported by me. I will journey alongside you, without judgement. Person-Centred counselling is not about labelling or diagnosing you, it is about me trying to understand your experience from your point of view. I will not make assumptions about you, and you will remain in the driving seat. I believe that by working together, we can help you to find fulfilment of your personal potential.

Psychodynamic Therapy is a collaborative process where we will explore together what’s on your mind, allowing you to gain insight into your unconscious thoughts, leading to greater understanding of yourself and what you want to get out of life. I hope that our work together will allow you to make sense of your current situation.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is where we will work together on understanding your thoughts and behaviours using techniques/interventions that will bring eventual change.
